Places to see
REICH FALLS: These lush, secluded falls are 35 minutes drive from the villa and our butler can set you off in the right direction or he can arrange a taxi there for you. Entrance fee is minimal. On a weekday, you will virtually have the place to yourself. Do take the offer of the guides to take you up the falls to explore. Enjoy the “janga (crawfish) soup” if it is ready when you are there. Take as few possessions as possible with you. Wear comfortable shoes and go dressed in swimsuits.
SOMERSET FALLS: This property holds a piece of Jamaican history as it was once occupied by Spanish settlers over 400 years ago. Take a swim in the Falls and refresh yourself, visit the caves, go for a boat ride around the back of the Falls, enjoy the sound of the birds while you dine or have a cool drink. It will be a day well spent.
FRENCHMAN’S COVE: A 5 minute drive from the villa, this magnificent beach with a river running through the property is the ideal place for added relaxation away from the villa. Blue Lagoon Villa guests enjoy free entrance with a card. You may swim there as well as have lunch as they serve a daily bar-b-que with lobster, chicken and local cuisine. They are open 9 am – 5 pm.
TRIDENT HOTEL AND CASTLE: The place to go if you want an elegant dinner or to enjoy drinks in a typical English pub setting.
ERROL FLYNN MARINA: The Errol Flynn Marina offers 32 fixed dockage berths (European) and excellent facilities for a superior yachting experience in one of the world’s most beautiful and protected harbours.
BOSTON BAY JERK PORK & CHICKEN: Boston Beach is known for its “jerk” pork and chicken stands and could be considered the birthplace of the spicy jerk seasoning for which Jamaica is known.
SAN SAN BEACH: one of the most famous stretches of pure white sand in all of Jamaica. This is the beach to go to if you want to don your snorkeling gear to explore the local marine life. A reef just offshore is teeming with fish.
SWIM IN THE WORLDFAMOUS BLUE LAGOON: The most famous place in Portland and one of the legendary beauty spots in the world. A natural favorite for swimmers as the mix of fresh and salt water offers an unusual bathing experience. This is a stone’s throw or a short paddle boat ride from Villa Point of View.
